(Dixon) Grant's Story
Life
Well now, many of you know that I graduated from West Point in the top 20% of my class. I volunteered for infantry service in Korea. I got to see the business end of the Cold War there. My follow on assignment was to Army Space Command in Colorado-- where I was loaned to the Air Force for a year and a half to learn to fly satellites. I then did some time on the Operations Staff arranging space technology demonstrations.
I got out of the service in 1990- and spent the Gulf War in Valley Forge, PA waiting to get a security clearance with General Electric Aerospace. I eventually moved to the Washington, D.C. area. Several mergers later, I was doing the same "black-world" work but with a Lockheed-Martin badge.
In 1997, I went back to Indiana for a couple of years to be close to the family at a critical time. I did enjoy Ft. Wayne itself (and found a great church there), but Raytheon didn't keep me busy enough-- or happy. So in 1999, I made a triumphant return to the Imperial City and Lockheed-Martin.
Since my return, I have not lacked for work. I have helped mid-wife some major new ...Expand for more
hardware/software transitions and led a 10 engineer team on a very neat project team--- even as I still got called in late at night to deal with emergencies.
I just changed jobs in 2004 to join TASC (a Northrop Grumman subsidiary).
Outside of work, I get some wargaming in-- or hit Renn faires and sci-fi conventions. I also am a Sunday school teacher for 9-10th graders (scary huh?). Being a youth leader and Sunday school teacher gives my paternal instincts an outlet.
No, I am not married-- but I have a great girlfriend (we'll just have to see).

Those profile questions were a bit weak! As for using my major/ concentration, engineering management is definitely something I use. But I don't get much use out of my Russian.
As for the thing that I first think of when recalling my days at "Woo-Poo U.," it would, on most days, be, "Sir, the Law... This is the Valley of Pain. We are not men, we are beasts!"
Actually, I have a lot of fond memories--and I wouldn't trade my education there for any other collegiate experience.
